The study was aimed at assessment of the efficiency of 11 active labour market measures most widely used in 2009. The authors focused on the period of 24 months after the intervention ended, or a period explicitly set by legislation as the period needed for retaining a job. Measures aimed at employees at risk of mass dismissal were more efficient (80% of affected people retained their jobs) than those aimed at the unemployed (30% of affected people were not successful in finding jobs, 40% of affected people retained their jobs for more than 1 year). Two positive examples of measures can be mentioned - Training for the labour market of the unemployed with 50% of affected people entering jobs after completion of training, and Graduate practice with 50% of young unemployed school graduates gaining a job and retaining it for more than 10 months in average. The authors suggest that it would be more efficient to transfer funds from this measure to more successful measures, e.g. Training for the labour market. Additionally, they recommend to focus more on establishment and support of new sheltered workshops.
