Today in Finland and all over Europe there are such challenges as youth unemployment, marginalization and a call for longer careers. How can vocational education respond to these challenges? The graduate students do not have enough skills to manage in working life or in getting work. This has been proved by many indicators. Schools do not have enough resources to meet the students’ needs. In my thesis I get acquainted to vocational education’s career counselling and its im-provement. My developing work has been placed in the Education Centre Sedu. My developing work on career counselling has included Uralla Alkuun- lessons to students. In our project there has been tested KesäJeesi- action with students and graduating students. I have also organized career counselling tests to three clas-ses of students and one group of young people from Paukun Paja workshop. The career counsellor has also updated Sedu’s material intended for students.
