Unemployment has become the most severe social problem in Greece. The trend shows that unemployment will increase even more in the next two years and that it will overrun the community's average rate. Youth unemployment is analyzed, as well as the structure of unemployment by sex and by level ofeducation. The author reaches the conclusion that unemployment hits mainly young people and women, and analyzes briefly the consequences of unemployment on theworkers.
