In the first part of this study, the objectives of the Bologna process are discussed as well as its effects and implementation in Austria compared to other European states. In the second part, findings of an empirical study on the labour market situation of the first bachelor graduates from six study courses in Austria are presented: business administration, business informatics, informatics (applied informatics / media informatics / medical informatics), journalism and communication sciences, biology and sociology. This part of the study is based on qualitative interviews with employers, HR managers and employment agency staff as well as on a quantitative, for the majority of specialisations representative, survey among bachelor graduates of the years 2004 to 2007.
