One of the key factors affecting the effectiveness of adult education is the issue of adapting the content and learning techniques to the needs of the learners. This was the rationale behind the 2003 survey of teachers – participants of training courses organised by a training institution, the Centre for IT Education and Computer Applications. Also, the aim of the questionnaire was to find out the teachers’ opinions about distance learning and interest in such a form of improving knowledge and skills, and to assess whether changing the learning method can lessen or increase teachers’ participation in the currently organised courses. 341 respondents answered the questionnaire. The survey can be regarded as a case study investigating a group of teachers from Warsaw and the Mazowieckie region.
