Letter accompanying the 2003-2004 Literacy Monitor. By order of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, the Centre for Education and Training in the Netherlands (CINOP) keeps track of developments in the range of courses offered by Regional Training Centres for illiterates of Dutch origin. The letter addresses the motion submitted by Lambrechts et al. during the debate of the 2005 budget for the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science. This motion appeals to the government to ensure that resources allocated for adult education and for the promotion of literacy are used for the purposes for which they were earmarked (Parliamentary Documents II, 2004-2005, 29 800 VIII, no. 55). The role of municipalities (Association of Netherlands Municipalities) and regional co operation with the Regional Training Centres are specifically addressed.

Begeleidende brief bij de Monitor Alfabetisering 2003-2004. Door middel van deze monitor volgt het Centrum voor Innovatie van Opleidingen (Cinop) in opdracht van OCW de ontwikkeling van het cursusaanbod voor autochtone analfabeten bij de regionale opleidingencentra (roc s). Ingegaan wordt op de motie Lambrechts c.s., die tijdens de behandeling van de OCW-begroting voor 2005 is ingediend. In deze motie wordt de regering verzocht te bevorderen dat de middelen voor volwassenenonderwijs en alfabetisering worden ingezet voor het doel waarvoor zij gegeven zijn (Kamerstukken II, 2004-2005, 29 800 VIII, nr. 55).
