This article describes the method for recording the training needs. In Italy, such method was developed by OBNF (Organismo Bilaterale Nazionale per la Formazione - National Joint Body for Training) and the Turin-based SPIN Agency. This method is applied to some production sectors relevant for the development of the industrial system at national level. The SPIN method is divided in two phases: the "desk" and the "field" phase. The first phase has the aim of anticipating the training requirements of the sector concerned, starting from technological innovations that can be envisaged in the short or medium term through a description of an ideal production cycle. The second phase envisages the involvement of the actors of training demand and supply at regional level. A questionnaire is drawn up according to the analysis of the ideal production cycles and it is submitted to the local enterprises. This questionnaire includes general information on the enterprise; the recording of subjects relevant for continuous training; the real interest of enterprises towards the professional profiles identified in the first phase.
