The thesis is written as a part of the study "guidance and competance development" and is based on political documents and pedagogical theories. The thesis focuses on personal guidance as a tool towards competence development as an important element in teacher education. The author has tested the guidance method and gives a summary of the optimal climate for the accomplishment of guidance together with the knowledge-, ethical-, functional-, physical- and personal aspects of working as a guidance teacher.
