The G7 Ministerial Conference on the Global Information Society which took place in Brussels from 24 to 26 February was divided into three main parts: the Ministerial Conference itself, the round table of indistrialists and the information society showcase. This document presents the discussion of the G7 ministers on the various aspects of the information society and the role that governments should play in the development of theinformation infrastructure. The conference was divided into three thematic sessions: 1) regulatory framework and competition policy, 2) development of the information infrastructure, the provision of access to it, and applications, and, 3)social and cultural aspects of the information society
