The article refers to the institution "Career Office" established in Greek higher education institutions. The "Career Office" is a pilot project launched by the European Social Fund, ESF aimed at supporting the fight against graduates' unemployment. The career office of the Technological Education Institute, TEI Kavalas (prefecture of the Macedonian region) carried out a research project aimed at defining the local labour market status, assessing the future manpower needs of enterprises and detecting the labour market "gap" between the enterprises' needs in specialized personnel and the existence of such personnel. According to the research outcome, 64.5 per cent of TEI graduates are employed while 80 per cent of theenterpises will need to employ specialized personnel is the near future.
